Family Fun in Tillamook, Oregon: A 3-Day, 2-Night Itinerary with Farms, Coastal Hikes, and Breweries

(Perfect for a Quick 2-Day Getaway Too!)

If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly getaway that’s packed with coastal beauty, good food, and unique experiences, Tillamook, Oregon is the perfect spot! 🌲🛻 We recently spent 3 days and 2 nights exploring the area with our toddlers, and it was such an easy and memorable adventure that could even be squeezed into just 2 days and 1 night if you’re short on time. Here’s our full itinerary! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦✨

Day 1: Settle In at a Harvest Host Stay 🐄 + Visit Tillamook Creamery 🧀

After arriving in Tillamook, we stayed at a super unique spot: the Blue Heron French Cheese Company, which partners with Harvest Hosts. 🚐🧀

What’s Harvest Hosts?
Harvest Hosts is a membership program that allows RVers and van travelers to stay overnight at amazing places like farms, wineries, breweries, and attractions — all for free (with the expectation that you’ll support the business, like making a purchase). 🛻🌻 It’s an awesome way to find unique places to stay and meet local business owners and maybe even other families while traveling.

Blue Heron French Cheese Company was such a hit with our kids. 🎉 They have farm animals you can feed ($1 per feed bag) 🐑🐓, a market where you can shop for local goodies (plus wine tasting paired with cheese for the adults! 🍷🧀), and even an out-of-commission old train 🚂 on-site that the kids could climb aboard — which was easily the highlight for them!

We also loved that we met two other traveling families staying there too 👋 — it’s always a bonus when the kids can make new friends on the road! 👫

Later that afternoon, we visited the Tillamook Creamery. We’re big fans of their products at home, so it was exciting to check out their amazing visitor center! This was honestly our highlight of the trip!
🧀 You can watch how they make their famous cheese, ice cream 🍦, and other dairy products on a self-guided tour.
🎉 Plus, they offer free samples (always a win!) and have a fantastic restaurant 🍔 and a fun gift shop 🛍️.
Our kids especially loved learning how cheese is made — it was hands-on, educational, and a lot of fun! 🤓🧀

Day 2: A Day of Outdoor Adventures 🌲 (and Brewery Hopping! 🍻)

We started the morning with a delicious breakfast from the Blue Heron market — they bake fresh croissants daily 🥐, and trust us, they are so worth it!

After breakfast, we headed over to Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint for a bit of outdoor exploration:

  • First, we took the easy trail from the parking lot down to the historic lighthouse 🌊🛤️ (only a 0.1 mile hike downhill from the parking lot)— the views of the Pacific Ocean from here are stunning! 🌅 Oh and there’s also a restroom by the parking lot!
  • Then we continued along the short loop hike to visit the famous Octopus Tree 🌳 (or also only a 0.1 mile hike from the parking lot), an incredible Sitka spruce with a wild, twisted shape that the kids thought looked straight out of a storybook 📖.
  • We packed a picnic lunch 🧺 and enjoyed it with breathtaking coastal views. 😍 There’s a great area with picnic tables tucked away from the parking lot that is perfect for this.

In the afternoon, we decided to explore Tillamook’s local brewery scene 🍻:

  • De Garde Brewing is a must-visit for fans of craft beer, known for their farmhouse-style, wild-fermented brews.
  • For dinner, we went to Pelican Brewing, which is always a family favorite with a full food menu and lots of seating both indoors and outdoors (and bonus points for being kid-friendly and dog-friendly).

Day 3: Heading Home 🛻✨

We packed up and departed in the morning, making this an easy 2-day, 1-night trip if you’re crunched for time. Tillamook offers just the right mix of coastal charm, family-friendly activities, and incredible local flavors — perfect for a quick family adventure!
